Art Response 13

This artist response is to Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao by Frank O. Gehry (Piece I am responding to upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia…). Quotation from the textbook: “From the north the building resembles a living organism, while from the other angles it looks like a giant ship, a reference to the industry on which Bilbao has traditionally depended, thereby identifying the museum with the city” (Stokstad, Marilyn, and Michael Cothren. Art History. Fifth Edition ed. Vol. 2. 1126. Print.).

My response piece was a similar angel, how a building or city can blend into something. With my piece I remember the sight I saw while on the roof at Pimlico, a local horse track in Baltimore, Maryland. I remember how it appeared the city was blending into the woodland and tree line. Geometric manmade structures blending into the natural organic surrounding, becoming organic itself. This image was made by taking several pictures slowly moving the camera into a new position before pieces each picture together in photoshop. I don’t know how to make a panoramic picture, so I did it this way instead.
